“This language is never ok,” Simon Doull exposes a fan who abused his late mother for criticising Babar Azam’s knock

The Kiwi commentator exposed the abuser’s identity on Instagram.

Simon Doull | GettyFormer New Zealand cricketer-turned-commentator Simon Doull on Thursday (March 9) took a social media user to task for his filthy language.

During the 25th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Doull criticized Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam for his pace of scoring. Playing against Quetta Gladiators, Babar got off to a blazing start but he slowed down considerably while getting closer to his century.

Notably, Babar was on 83 off 46 balls and then took 14 deliveries to reach the century. The sudden fall in strike-rate didn't go unnoticed as Doull, who was on-air at the time, said: “Rather than putting the team first... the last little while, that's all that been happening. Rather than looking for boundaries, still so much firepower to come. Hundreds are brilliant, stats are great, but it has to be team first.”

Simon Doull’s remark didn’t go down well with the Babar Azam fans as one person named Feroze Khan abused him and his family members on Instagram.

Unlike many celebrities, the Kiwi commentator chose not to ignore as he exposed the abuser’s identity.

“So sorry to have upset you Feroz. It’s just an opinion and I get paid for it. It’s ok if you don’t agree but this language is never ok. And my mother has also passed,” Doull wrote on Instagram while also sharing a screenshot of the abuse he received for his comments on Babar.

Coming to the match, Babar Azam’s century (115 off 65 balls) propelled Peshawar Zalmi to a massive 240/2 in 20 overs.

In reply, however, Quetta Gladiators overhauled the target with eight wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare as Jason Roy smashed a dazzling unbeaten hundred (145* off 63 balls).
