NZ v ENG 2023: WATCH- Kuggeleijn and Blundell's comical error gives Broad life; Stokes, Anderson left stunned

England made 79/2 at stumps on day 2 and have a lead of 98 runs.

The ball fell in center of the two Kiwis and everyone was left in disbelief | GettyThe first Test between New Zealand and England being played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui has seen some terrific cricket in the first two days. England had declared their first innings on 325/9 on day one itself after playing 58.2 overs.

Ben Duckett (84) and Harry Brook (89) were the top scorers for the visitors, while for the home side, Neil Wager took 4/82, Tim Southee pocketed two wickets and Scott Kuggeleijn on his Test debut took 2/80.

In reply, New Zealand posted 306 with Tom Blundell becoming the first keeper to score a century in a pink ball day-night Test, as he made 138, while the next best score was 77 from Devon Conway. Ollie Robinson took 4/54, while James Anderson took 3 wickets.

In the second innings, England was 79/2 at stumps on day two. Stuart Broad had come as a night watchman and New Zealand could have taken his wicket in the 14th over, had bowler Scott Kuggeleijn and keeper Tom Blundell not committed a blunder.

In the final delivery of the 14th over, Broad received a short delivery from Scott Kuggeleijn and the batter came down the track and swatted at the ball, managing to only top edge it. Kuggeleijn and wicketkeeper Tom Blundell converged to take the catch, with the keeper signaling the bowler that the catch was his.

But due to some misunderstanding and miscommunication, neither went for the catch and the ball dropped in the dead center of the two Kiwis.

During the moment, cameras also caught the reaction of Stokes and James Anderson, who were left completely flabbergasted.
