SA v ENG 2023: WATCH- Moeen Ali tries a bizarre one-handed reverse swat against Tabraiz Shamsi

England defeated South Africa by 59 runs in 3rd ODI with Archer taking 6/40.

Moeen Ali's attempted one-handed reverse swat | GettyEngland all-rounder Moeen Ali had people scratching their heads during the third and final ODI against South Africa as he tried to play a really bizarre shot on a delivery by Tabraiz Shamsi.

It all happened in the 44th over of the first innings when Moeen had scored 12 from eight balls and was facing the wrist spin of Tabraiz Shamsi. On the fourth delivery, the southpaw attempted an audacious innovation. He tried to hit the ball as if he had a racquet in his hand, which was a right-handed forehand.

The only problem was that though Ali tried something new, he couldn’t execute the shot properly and missed the ball.

This shot led to New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham leaving a hilarious comment saying: “Hahahahaha what have you done @Bazmccullum ?!?!”, a sly dig at England Test coach Brendon McCullum and his bazball style of batting.

England batted first and posted 346/7 in fifty overs, thanks to Dawid Malan (118) and Jos Buttler's (131) brilliant knocks. Ali also slammed 41 in 23 balls. In reply, South Africa could only manage 287 runs with Heinrich Klaasen (80) and Reeza Hendricks (52) being the top scorers.

Jofra Archer in his comeback series, picked 6/40 as England won the match by 59 runs, but lost the series 2-1
