In the ongoing UAE International League T20 tournament, Desert Vipers’ keeper Sam Billings pulled off an amazing no-look run out of Sharjah Warriors’ Joe Denly in an exciting encounter.
Desert Vipers batted first in the T20 encounter and posted a competitive total of 148 with Billings chipping in with a 23-ball-27 on a tricky wicket. In response, Sharjah Warriors were off to a good start and after eight overs, they were placed comfortably on 50/2.
But then they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and finally managed on 126/8 and lost by 22 runs. Luke Wood and Wanindu Hasaranga picked three wickets apiece.
Joe Denly made only one run when on the third ball of the 10th over, he defended a delivery off Benny Howell without much difficulty. The ball went near him and in the process of playing the shot, he moved out of his crease a bit.
Billings was onto the ball in a flash and back-handed the ball onto the stumps, dislodging the bails and replays showed that not only did Denly didn’t get back into the crease, but his bat was also high in the air in the process of doing so.
Denly was dismissed for one run and many compared Billings’ run out with that of MS Dhoni.
