Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) official Twitter account was hacked on Saturday (January 21) and NFT-related posts and retweets appeared on the timeline.
The hacker changed the display picture and also altered the profile name to ‘Bored Ape Yacht Club’. Moreover, the entire bio was changed, which led to fans taking notice of the situation.
Interestingly, RCB’s social media team is yet to provide an official update in this regard. While the account was compromised, PCB also shared a promotional video.
This is not the first time that RCB’s account got hacked. Back in September 2021, RCB’s account was compromised and a few tweets related to cryptocurrency were made by the hackers. However, the franchise’s social media team had managed to restore the account after a brief period.
“Dear 12th Man Army, our Twitter account was compromised a few hours ago and we have now managed to get the access back. We condemn the tweet that the hackers put out and we do not endorse any content from that tweet, which we have now deleted. We regret the inconvenience caused," RCB had tweeted back then after the recovery of its account.
