Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan not finding a spot in India’s squad for the first two Tests of the upcoming series against Australia has become the talk of the town lately.
Sarfaraz failed to make the cut despite being so prolific in domestic cricket over the last three seasons. The right-hander amassed more than 900 runs in the past two editions of the Ranji Trophy – 928 in 2019-20 & 982 in 2021-22.
In the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, Sarfaraz has taken the cricketing world by storm once again. After registering scores of 5, 126*, 75, 20, 162, 15*, 28* in the first five games, he responded to his Test snub by slamming 125 off 155 balls against Delhi at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday (January 17).
After his latest century, Sarfaraz is grabbing the headlines yet again. Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad expressed his sympathy for the Mumbai batter, saying that it’s an abuse to domestic cricket to keep ignoring him in the national Test squad.
Prasad also came in defence of Sarfaraz Khan's body weight, saying there are many players featuring in the squad with more kgs.
“Not having him in the Test Team despite 3 blockbuster domestic seasons is not only unfair on Sarfaraz Khan, but it’s an abuse to domestic cricket, almost as if this platform doesn’t matter. And he is FIT to score those runs. As far as body weight goes, there are many with more kgs,” Venkatesh Prasad tweeted.
