PAK v NZ 2022-23: WATCH- Babar Azam gets run out for 24 after mix up with Imam Ul Haq

New Zealand posted 449 runs in their first innings.

Babar found himself at the same end as Imam after a mixup | TwitterPakistan captain Babar Azam was a figure of absolute disappointment while walking back to the pavilion after being run out for 24 runs on day 2 of the ongoing second and final Test against New Zealand in Karachi on January 3, 2023.

New Zealand carried on where they left on day one and were buoyed by a brilliant 104-run tenth wicket partnership between Matt Henry and Ajaz Patel as they took the final first innings total to 449 runs. For Pakistan, Abrar Ahmed took 4/149, and Naseem Shah and Salman Agha took three wickets each as well.

Pakistan began their reply by losing Abdullah Shafique for 19 runs and then Shan Masood got out for 20. After a solid 43-run partnership between Babar and Imam Ul Haq, a disaster happened.

In the 25th over, Imam Ul Haq turned a delivery from Michael Bracewell towards the midwicket and set off for what was a sure three runs. Babar set off for the third run and Imam started as well but then stops midway while watching the ball.

Babar Azam, however, reaches the striker’s end, while Henry Nicholls’ throw reaches Bracewell, who whips off the bails at the non-striker’s end, ending Babar’s short stay at the crease for 24 runs.

Babar had a few words with Imam before he began his long walk back to the pavilion with a solemn expression on his face.
