WATCH- Rishabh Pant’s terrible car crash caught on CCTV; cricketer suffers injuries to head, back and knee

Pant is in Max Hospital in Dehradun undergoing treatment by specialist doctors.

Rishabh Pant's car crashed in Roorkee | TwitterRishabh Pant, the Indian keeper-batter, was involved in a car crash at the Dehradun-Delhi highway near Roorkee as he was visiting his family. He was driving his Mercedes SLE car when it collided with a divider near Narsan and burst into flames after a short while.

Meanwhile, Pant managed to escape the car before it caught flames by breaking the windscreen and climbing his way out. As per police and hospital, Rishabh Pant has suffered laceration injuries to his forehead and other parts of the body and has a ligament injury to his right knee as well.

He was taken to Roorkee Civil hospital for first aid and then moved to Max Hospital in Dehradun for further treatment like X-Rays and MRI scans. Dr. Ashish Yagnik, of Max Hospital, stated that Pant's condition was stable and he is under observation.

"Cricketer Rishabh Pant is under the observation of Orthopedics & plastic surgeons. His condition is stable. His detailed medical bulletin will be released once he's examined. Thereafter, we'll take the next steps,” he said in an official statement.

Pant was driving from Delhi to his home in Roorkee to surprise his mother and spend the New Year with his family when the accident occurred. Police reportedly said that Pant dozed off while driving the car and this was the cause of the accident.

CCTV footage was released that shows the exact moment when Pant's car crashed into the divider.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sushil Nagar, who treated Pant in the emergency, said the cricketer's main injuries are on his "forehead and knee."

"The first X-rays suggest there is no fracture and there are no burns on Pant's body despite his car catching fire. Pant has two lacerative wounds on his forehead, one right above the left eye; there is a ligament tear in the knee; and abrasions on his back,” Dr. Nagar was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

Rishabh Pant was recently seen in the second Test against Bangladesh where he scored a brilliant 93 and aided India in winning the match by 3 wickets. He was not named in the Indian squad for the home white-ball series against Sri Lanka and was asked to report to NCA for strength and conditioning training.
