Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir found himself in the firing range of Indian cricket fans thanks to his birthday wish to Yuvraj Singh, who is celebrating his 41st birthday today on December 12, 2022.
Yuvraj Singh is widely regarded as one of the best batters India produced in limited-overs game. He had made his debut as a 19-year-old in the ICC Knockout Trophy in 2000 in Kenya and impressed one and all in his first outing with the bat against Australia, scoring a brilliant 84 runs.
He shortly became a mainstay of the Indian middle order along with the likes of MS Dhoni, Mohammad Kaif, Suresh Raina, and others, and the fact that he could bowl as a proper bowler as well, made him that important to then India captains Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and later MS Dhoni as well.
Yuvraj played 304 ODIs, scoring 8701 runs with 14 centuries with the best score of 150 and also picked 111 wickets with a best of 5/31. He also played 58 T20Is with 1177 runs and 8 half-centuries and the best score of 77*.

However, he couldn’t have the same success in Tests, given that he had to wait for spots to open in the Indian middle order to get a regular run in red-ball games and could only play 40 Tests, scoring 1900 runs, making 3 Test hundreds, all against Pakistan, with the best score of 169.
His biggest achievement was being part of the Indian teams which won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011. He became the first batter to hit six sixes in an over in a T20I match in the 2007 T20 WC, against England and was the Player of the Tournament in the 2011 ICC event.
As Yuvraj celebrated his 41st birthday today, Gambhir posted a photo of himself and the southpaw from their playing days in his birthday wish.
He captioned the post: “Happy Birthday to the best white ball cricketer India has ever produced! @YUVSTRONG12”
Unfortunately, Gambhir calling Yuvraj Singh the best white-ball cricketer India had ever produced offended the fandoms of the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, who have achieved lots of success and legendary status in ODIs and T20Is.
The fans were quick to troll Gambhir on his opinion and here are some of the most savage tweets.
