Shami recovered from COVID-19 on the day of the first T20I against South Africa.

Mohammad Shami | GettyIn a pleasant news for the Indian fans, veteran pacer Mohammad Shami seems to have recovered from COVID-19 and is raring to go.

On Saturday (September 1), Shami uploaded a video on Instagram, in which he can be seen bowling at full throttle.

“Safar jari hai,” he captioned the video.

Shami was initially announced to be a part of the T20I squad for the home series against Australia and South Africa. However, the fast bowler was diagnosed with COVID-19 and he had to miss the three T20Is against Australia last month.

While Shami recovered from COVID-19 on the day of the first T20I against South Africa, he was ruled out of the series considering that he was not fit to play.

Mohammad Shami hasn’t been named in India’s 15-member T20 World Cup 2022 squad but he features in the list of four standby players alongside Deepak Chahar, Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi.

With pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah doubtful to take part in the marquee event due to back injury, Shami might also be included in the main squad in the coming days or weeks.
