The battle for the next Asia Cup 2022 title is all set to finally begin on Saturday evening (August 27) with Afghanistan taking on Sri Lanka in the opening match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

All eyes will be on the second match of the Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday (August 28), as the two arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, will lock horns against each other for the first time since the T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai.

Notably, Team India had suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat in their previous meeting against Pakistan, and the Men in Blue will undoubtedly want to avenge that defeat in the Asia Cup 2022.

Meanwhile, ahead of the blockbuster Asia Cup clash between the two Asian giants, former Indian cricketer, and cricket pundit Wasim Jaffer has declared his playing XI for the big clash in Dubai.

His top order is as expected, as the former batter wants Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul to open the innings with Virat Kohli at number three, followed by Suryakumar Yadav at number four against Pakistan.

However, he is not sure who will get the nod between Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik for the wicketkeeper’s place, so he said if the young left-hander gets a chance, then he should bat at number five, otherwise, Hardik Pandya should bat at this position and Karthik at number six.

Jaffer further went on to back the experienced spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the all-important clash against Pakistan and suggested that he should bat at number seven.

Well, his fast-bowling department has Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh, while he picked Ravi Bishnoi over R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal in his spin attack in his Team India playing XI for the big game.
