South Africa thrashed England by 90 runs in the series-decider at Ageas Bowl to clinch the T20I series 2-1 on Sunday (July 31). This meant England remained winless in all four white-ball series in their home summer under Jos Buttler.

The England captain won the toss and opted to bowl first only to see South Africa pile up an imposing score of 191/5 in their 20 overs with Reeza Hendricks (70) and Aiden Markram (51*) making brilliant half-centuries.

Rilee Rossouw with 31 in 18 balls and Proteas captain David Miller's 9-ball 22 further pushed the scoring rate. For the hosts, David Willey bowled well to finish with figures of 3/25 in his four overs.

England's reply ended in horror as they crashed for just 101 in the 17th over. Only Jonny Bairstow (27) went past the 20-run mark as left-arm wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi (5/24) wrecked havoc to pick his maiden T20I five-wicket haul to help his team win the match and series in emphatic fashion.

A major highlight of the South African effort while defending the total was when young Tristan Stubbs pulled off one of the finest one-handed catches to get rid of the dangerous Moeen Ali off the bowling of Markram. Moeen couldn't control his shot after getting a leading edge and was left stunned along with the commentators and spectators when Stubbs competed the catch with his left hand.
