Veteran all-rounder Moeen Ali, on Wednesday (July 27), created history by smashing England’s fastest fifty in T20I cricket in the opening match of the three-match T20I series against South Africa.
It was batters' day, as Jonny Bairstow played a stunning knock of 90 off 53 deliveries, while Ali took just 16 balls to complete his fifty to help England post their second-highest total in the format – 234 runs against South Africa at the Bristol County Ground on Wednesday.
Moeen hammered 6 sixes and 2 fours in his fantastic knock of 52 runs off just 18 balls and then snared one wicket to play his role in England’s 41-run win over South Africa in the first T20I. He was adjudged player of the match for his all-rounder show against South Africa in Bristol.
Well, Moeen’s knock was really enjoyed by the Bristol crowd and one of his sixes went into the stands at deep square, and a fan brilliantly grabbed the catch and England cricket shared a clip of that catch on Twitter. Andile Phehlukwayo bowled a short ball at the all-rounder and he smashed it for a six.

After the completion of the white-ball series, England and South Africa will play a three-match Test series, with the first Test scheduled for August 17.
