Australia's David Warner once again excelled on the field during the first One-Day International (ODI) against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on June 14.
On Tuesday (June 14), Warner took a spectacular one-handed catch to dismiss Dhananjaya de Silva during the first ODI in Kandy. His incredible efforts haven’t only left fans amazed but also left his teammate Ashton Agar in utter disbelief.
It happened in the 26th over of Sri Lanka’s innings when Dhanajaya attempted a big shot against the Australian spinner Ashton Agar on the penultimate delivery of the over.
The Sri Lankan batter skipped down the wicket and smashed the ball heavily, and even though it looked like it was going to fly easily over the head of Warner at mid-on.
But the Aussie opener jumped high and stuck his left hand up to take a stunning one-handed catch. After completing the wonderful catch, Warner even managed to land on two feet, which was amazing to watch for everyone.

This catch taken by Warner proved crucial for Australia, as the tourists made a comeback after Dhanajaya's (7) dismissal against Sri Lanka in Kandy. After Dhanajaya’s wicket, the wickets were falling at regular intervals, as Sri Lanka posted 300/7 on the board in the 50 overs against Australia on Tuesday.
Notably, before rain stopped the proceedings in Kandy, Australia had already lost two wickets to Warner (0) and Aaron Finch (44) for 72 runs. Steve Smith (21) and Marnus Labuschagne will resume play in the ongoing first ODI of the five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Kandy.
