Pakistan’s limited-overs vice-captain Shadab Khan took a magnificent catch in the first ODI against the West Indies in Multan on Wednesday (June 08). Shamarh Brooks was sent back on 70 as that catch ended a 154-run partnership between him and Shai Hope. 

Brooks attempted a sweep against Mohammad Nawaz, who slowed down the delivery. The batter ended up mistiming the shot, as the ball took the outer edge of the bat and went towards the short third man region. Just as it appeared, that the ball would beat Khan, he dived to his left to complete a one-handed catch.

The hosts eventually won the match by chasing down a 306-run target with four balls to spare. Captain Babar Azam hit a brilliant century (103 off 107 balls), which proved to be the foundation of Pakistan's chase.

The spin-bowling all-rounder trolled his skipper on Twitter a day later by posting a video of the grab with a hilarious message. 

"Jee@babarazam258 aap keh rahe thay budha ho gaya hun mai. Meri dua hai aap is hi tarhan 100 pe 100 martay raho aur hamesha jawaan raho, Khushdil aesa hi chakkay marta rahe aur hamari behtar se behtar effort kerti rahe," he wrote.

The loose translation of the post would be, "Babar Azam, you were saying that I am getting old.  I wish you continued success and longevity. I also hope Khushdil (Shah) continues to knock sixes like this and that we continue to perform better than we have in the past."

On Wednesday, international cricket returned to Multan for the first time in almost 14 years, with Pakistan taking on the West Indies in the opener of a three-match series.

The Azam-led team won the match by 5 wickets in the end.
