Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is often touted as one of the most talented players in modern-day white-ball cricket.

The 33-year-old cricketer has represented Australia in all three formats of the game and has been a regular player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for almost a decade now, playing for franchises like Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The right-handed batter has been an explosive performer with the bat but has not been able to do complete justice to his talent. The lack of consistency is one of the biggest negative aspects of his game.

In a recent video uploaded by his current IPL team RCB, Maxwell opened up on the biggest mistakes of his career. He said that he had taken the talent and skills he had for granted.

"Probably not taking a few tournaments seriously, as I probably should have. I probably did waste my time a little bit. I wasn’t as focused or wasn’t as driven to be the best or so. I was just there to make up the numbers. And there were times when I was called upon afterward, I probably wasn’t just not prepared. And as I said, these are all the learning experiences that I have had over these years. I definitely took the talent and skill that I had just for granted, that’s all," Maxwell said.

Making his international debut for Australia against Afghanistan in 2012, Maxwell has featured in 7 Tests, 116 ODIs, and 84 T20I matches to date, with 339, 3230, and 1982 runs respectively.

He was a member of the Australian squad that lifted the 50-over World Cup at home in 2015 and the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates last year.
