"Pretty darn good": Dale Steyn picks his best all-format batter in the world

Steyn, during a live Q&A session on Twitter, named his best all-format batter.

Babar Azam | GettyOn Thursday (April 14), former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn conducted a Q&A session on Twitter and was asked about the finest batter among current players across all formats of the game. He chose Pakistan captain Babar Azam in response to the question.

A user asked him, "Who's the best batsman across all formats currently in your opinion?" To which, Steyn replied: "Maybe Babar? He's pretty darn good,"

Here's the tweet

Babar Azam is the number one ODI and T20I batter in the ICC rankings, and he is placed at fifth position in Test cricket. In the recently concluded Pakistan versus Australia series, the classy right-hander amassed 390 runs in 3 Tests at an average of 78.

He was equally impressive in the ODI series against the 5-time World Champions, scoring 276 runs in just three matches while also slamming two centuries. In the ODI series, his average was 138!!

In the one-off T20I, Babar hit 66 off 46 to help Pakistan get to a respectable total of 162/8. However, a half-century from Aaron Finch and handy contributions from Marcus Stoinis (23 off 9 balls) and Ben McDermott (22 off 19 balls) down the order saw Australia chase down the target.

Babar Azam has been in phenomenal touch since the T20 World Cup 2021, where he was the leading run-getter.
