Australian cricket fraternity pays rich tribute to Shane Warne as Spin King passes away at 52

Shane Warne represented Australia in 145 Tests and 194 ODIs.

Shane Warne | Getty Widely deemed as the greatest spin bowler to have played the game, Australian legend Shane Warne on Friday (March 4) died of a suspected heart attack. He was 52.

Warne was found unresponsive in his villa in Thailand and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived.

Shane Warne represented Australia in 145 Tests, claiming 708 wickets at an average of 25.42 with 37 five-wicket hauls.

He also picked up 293 wickets in 194 ODIs and was part of Australia’s triumphant 1999 World Cup team.

Following the international retirement, Warne showed his leadership credentials in the Indian Premier League (IPL), guiding Rajasthan Royals (RR) to the title in the inaugural season in 2008.

After the heartbreaking news broke out, Australian cricket fraternity paid their rich tribute to Shane Warne and offered their condolences to his family.

Hard to fathom. We all idolised Warnie growing up for his showmanship, will to win from any position and his incredible skill. Players all over the world owe him so much for what he has brought to cricket. He had a huge affect on all he met. He transcended cricket.
