Widely regarded as one of the greatest bowlers to have played the game, Australian legend Shane Warne on Friday (March 4) passed away of a suspected heart attack.
In a brief statement, Warne’s management company confirmed that the 52-year-old passed away in Koh Samui, Thailand.
“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,” the statement reads.
Warne played 145 Tests and 194 ODIs between 1992 and 2007 and claimed a total of 1001 wickets during his illustrious career. The spin wizard played a key role in Australia’s 1999 World Cup triumph.
