‘If any such repetition happens, I will not hold back’, Wriddhiman Saha warns journalist who threatened him

Saha was recently threatened by an unnamed journalist for not agreeing to give an interview.

Wriddhiman Saha | BCCI/TwitterVeteran India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has made it clear that he will not hold himself back from disclosing the identity of the journalist if he is threatened again.

On Saturday (February 19), Saha had shared a screenshot of his private chat with an unidentified journalist who sent him threats.

The Bengal stumper was threatened for not agreeing to talk to the unnamed journalist over his exclusion from the Team India Test squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka series.

Since then, the 37-year-old has received support from the big names in the Indian cricket fraternity, including Ravi Shastri and Virender Sehwag.

Fans are also supporting Saha and some of them have urged him to reveal the name, but the cricketer has said that he won't do it as his intention was not to harm anyone's career.

“I was hurt and offended. I thought not to tolerate such kind of behaviour and didn’t want anyone to go through these kind of bullying. I decided I will go out and expose the chat in public eye, but not his/her name,” said Saha in a statement that he posted on his Twitter account.

“My nature isnt such that I will harm anyone to the extent of ending someone’s career. So on grounds of humanity looking at his/her family, I am not exposing the name for the time being. But if any such repetition happens, I will not hold back. I thank each and everyone who has shown support and extended their willingness to help. My gratitude,” he further said.

Earlier, BCCI treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal said that the board is investigating the matter of Saha getting a threat from a journalist on WhatsApp and ensured strict action against the guilty party.

"We are serious about the matter and are looking into it. First, we have to get to know who is it, what the context was and accordingly we will take action,” Dhumal told News9live.
