U19 CWC 2022: PM Narendra Modi congratulates India U-19 team for World Cup triumph

India have won U19 World Cup in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and now in 2022.

India lifted their fifth ICC U19 World Cup title after defeating England in the final at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua on Saturday (February 5). The Yash Dhull-led side won the match by 4 wickets after chasing down 190 runs with 14 balls to spare.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the India U-19 cricket team for the achievement. He said the outstanding performance in the major ICC event proves that the future of cricket in India is in "safe and able hands".

"Extremely proud of our young cricketers. Congratulations to the Indian team for winning the ICC U19 World Cup. They have shown great fortitude through the tournament. Their stellar performance at the highest level shows that the future of Indian cricket is in safe and able hands," he tweeted.

Raj Bawa was the star performer with the ball, as he bagged 5/31, while Ravi Kumar picked 4/34 to bowl out England for 189 in 44.5 overs. Shaik Rasheed (50), Raj Bawa (35), and Nishant Sindhu (50*) helped India chase down the target.

Dinesh Bana hit the winning six to seal the win in style. Earlier, India had won the U19 World Cup in 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2018.
