The 28-year-old's comeback is much awaited as his return will add a good balance to the side. Before the break, he was struggling to play the role of an all-rounder due to a lack of fitness.

Hardik's back problem had not allowed him to bowl regularly. But when asked if he will be bowling in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2022), he replied that it's going to be a surprise for everyone.

"It's (bowling) a surprise for everyone. My team knows where I stand. It's been challenging. I've always been someone who contributes with the bat, ball, and on the field. When I decided I will just bat, I wanted to spend some time on the ground. We all love challenges and I love to fight it out. Criticism is good and it doesn't really bother me," he said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Hardik will be leading his home state-based franchise, Ahmedabad in the upcoming IPL season. They have also picked Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill from the draft.
