WATCH - Brett Lee turns back clock by defending 8 runs in the final over against India Maharajas

Former Australia speedster Brett Lee defended 8 runs in the final over to help World Giants win over India Maharajas by 5 runs in the Legends League Cricket (LLC) on Thursday (January 27). 

Lee was at his best and he conceded only two runs in the final over, while picking up the crucial wicket of Irfan Pathan to shift the momentum. Irfan was dismissed after scoring 56 runs off 21 deliveries while going after a target of 229 runs in 20 overs.

The 45-year-old bowled a wide to start the over, but he then picked up a wicket off the first legal delivery. He conceded a single on the second delivery, followed by a couple of dots, a wicket, and another dot on the final ball.

Earlier, Naman Ojha scored 95 runs off 51 balls, and Yusuf Pathan contributed 45 runs in just 22 deliveries. Maharajas managed to get very close to the target before the Aussie pacer turned the game. 

Lee bowled three overs and conceded only 22 runs, while other bowlers were very expensive. Morne Morkel had the second-best economy of 9.20 after taking 2 wickets for 37 runs in four overs.

With this defeat, India Maharajas are out of the competition and the final of the tournament will be played between Asia Lions and World Giants on January 29.
