Started as a joke, the 'Lord' tag seems to have got permanent now as Shardul keeps performing at crucial times. Interestingly, even the 30-year-old knows about it and he has often thanked the fans for their love.

Recently, even Yuzvendra Chahal cracked a joke when Shardul was discussing Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) mega-auction with KL Rahul. He asked Rahul, who has been appointed as Lucknow franchise's captain, their budget for him in the auction.
Chahal was sitting next to Rahul, and he replied there's no budget for the lord. "Bhagwan ke liye budget nahi hota bro," said the leggie in a video going viral on social media.
Shardul was part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last four seasons. The bowling all-rounder wasn't among the players retained by CSK ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction.
