After a dominating win in the first T20I, West Indies lost the second match against England by just 1 run. They were chasing 172 runs at the Kensington Oval in Barbados and England took their 8 wickets for 95 runs in 15.1 overs.

It felt like the game was done and dusted before West Indies could enter the last five overs of their run-chase, with Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd keeping the hopes alive for the hosts.

Hosein scored 44 off 16 deliveries with 3 fours and 4 sixes, while Shepherd played a knock of 28-ball 44 which included a four and 5 sixes.

West Indies needed 30 runs in the final over, bowled by England pacer Saqib Mahmood, and the home team managed to score 28 runs. Hosein hit three sixes and a couple of fours in the over, taking them very close to the target.

In the end, England won the match by only 1 run and Mahmood was pleased he had enough runs to defend. On the other side, Hosein was very disappointed for failing to take his team to a victory.

"If you lose early wickets, you tend to struggle. But the way the guys fought at the end, tremendous. Akeal batted really well at the end, spare a word for Shepherd. He's really taken some responsibility. It has (being unable to negate spinners) but we will find a way. We will have games like this but the guys will get through," West Indies captain Kieron Pollard said after the game.

"Yeah, those (dropped catches) really count, we lost by one run today, so yeah, those do cost. But having said that, we finished well. It was a good game of cricket and hopefully, the fans enjoyed it," he added.
