Cricketer-turned-commentator Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has come up with a suggestion to replace the commonly used term 'death overs'. The term is referred to the last few overs of an innings in a limited-overs cricket match.

Sivaramakrishnan posted a tweet and wrote that the commentators should avoid using the term, and instead they should replace it with 'slog overs' or 'end overs'. His tweet came during the first ODI match between India and South Africa on Wednesday (January 19).

The renowned commentator added that the word 'death' is not nice as the world is currently going through a tough time in the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Request to all commentators, please don't say 'DEATH OVERS'. Either call it slog overs or end overs. We are going through a tough time. Death is not a nice word. The last ten overs are definitely important overs but one doesn't die if it doesn't go the team's way," he tweeted.

While some of the Twitter users welcomed Sivaramakrishnan's suggestion, there were a few Twitterati who also joked about it and some the humorous side of the tweet.
