Melbourne Stars’ skipper Glenn Maxwell had a field day in the ongoing Big Bash League 2021-22 (BBL 11) against the Hobart Hurricanes at the MCG as he slammed an eye-watering 154* in 64 balls leading his team to a record score.
Hurricane’s captain Matthew Wade won the toss and chose to bowl first, a decision he regretted a lot. Maxwell opened the innings for Stars and remained unbeaten on 154* in 64 balls with 22 fours and 4 sixes to his name.
Joe Clarke made 35, while Marcus Stoinis slammed 75* in 31 balls with 6 sixes and 4 fours in what was absolute carnage as the Stars ended with 273/3 in 20 overs. Maxwell became the first batter in BBL history to breach the 150-run mark, scoring a half-century in just 20 balls and reaching a century in 41 balls.

Stoinis watched at the other end, as his record of 147 was broken by Maxwell who was playing his 100th BBL match. One record that remained intact was Craig Simmons's record of reaching a 100 off just 39 balls while Maxwell took 41 to reach his, scoring the second-fastest BBL century.
