Hossain played a major role in Bangladesh’s first-ever Test win against New Zealand. This was also their first win across formats in the country. After the visitors took a lead of 130 runs in the first innings, the lanky pacer took 6 wickets in the second innings and helped his side bundle out New Zealand for just 167 runs.

Bangladesh then chased down the required 40 runs with 8 wickets in hand and registered an amazing victory.

Ebadot Hossain was lauded by many fans and cricket pundits for his heroics and was also named Player of the Match in Bangladesh’s historic Test win over the Black Caps.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Ebadot Hossain said that not having won a match in New Zealand in the last 21 years, Bangladesh this time set a goal of beating the Black Caps on their own soil.

He said that beating Test Champions will inspire the next generation.

"In New Zealand soil, our brothers and teams didn't get a win in the last 21 years. We set a goal this time. We raised our hand and said 'We have to beat New Zealand in their own soil and we can do it.' They are Test champions, if we can beat them our next generation will be inspired," Ebadot Hussain said.

Hossain said that he was working with Ottis Gibson for the last two years and is still learning how to bowl reverse swing in away conditions.

"In the last two years, I am working with Ottis Gibson. Conditions are always flat at home. We are still learning how to bowl and reverse in away conditions. I am trying to hit the top of the stumps. I needed to be a little patient for success to come," he said.

Ebadot Hossain, who is employed with the Bangladesh Air Force, said that he’s enjoying representing his country in the game of cricket.

"I am a soldier of Bangladesh Air Force so I know how to do the salute. It was a long story, from volleyball to cricket. I am enjoying cricket, representing Bangladesh and Bangladesh Air Force," he said.
