Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Brisbane Heat have signed Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman for a three-match stint in January. The decision was made after English cricketer Tom Abell was ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury.

Former Australia cricketer Mark Waugh has reacted to the news after Adam Gilchrist brought it to his notice. Mark had once mispronounced Fakhar's name during a show, back in 2018.

"You nervous @juniorwaugh349?", joked Gilchrist in a tweet, and added, "Great signing though. @HeatBBL." Mark responded to the tweet and wrote that he's working on his pronunciation. "Have to brush up on my pronunciation", the reply read.

Back in 2018, Mark and Brett Lee were analyzing the Test match between Pakistan and Australia in Abu Dhabi when the former Australia batter made the error on-air.

When Mark was struggling to get Fakhar's name right, Lee couldn't stop laughing.

Fakhar's first game for the Heat will be against the Melbourne Renegades on January 6.
