Pakistan’s veteran cricketer Shoaib Malik made headlines during the first T20I against Bangladesh in Dhaka for getting run out in a bizarre yet funny way. The match was played at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium and Bangladesh had won the toss, choosing to bat first.
Bangladesh managed 127/7 with Afif Hossain (36) and Mahedi Hasan (30) being the top-scorers. Hassan Ali picked 3/22, while Mohammad Wasim Jr took 2/24. In reply, Pakistan lost openers Babar Azam for 7 and Mohammad Rizwan for 11 runs. Haider Ali followed soon for a duck.
Shoaib Malik joined Fakhar Zaman to rebuild the innings having lost three wickets on merely 23. With an attempt to get a single towards third-man, Malik placed a length ball with a soft shot but couldn't get his timing, with the ball finding a bottom edge and bouncing back to the wicketkeeper.

Seemingly not knowing he was out of his crease, Malik shadow-played putting the bat in the third man's direction. Nurul Hasan, the wicketkeeper, seized the opportunity and aimed a direct hit to run Malik out.

Despite being reduced to 24/4, thanks to Zaman’s and Khushdil Shah’s 34 runs each and late flourish from Shadab Khan (21*) and Mohammad Nawaz (18*), Pakistan romped home with 4 wickets in hand and 4 balls to go.
