Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan explained the reason behind carrying his own pillow every time he travels.
Mohammad Rizwan has often been seen carrying pillow whenever he travels. Some reports suggested that the wicketkeeper batter brings his pillow from his home and takes it everywhere he goes.
He was also seen carrying a pillow when the Pakistan team was walking across the Dubai airport on their way to Bangladesh.
When asked about why he carries his pillow, Mohammad Rizwan said that it's a medicated pillow that helps him with his neck pain arising from wearing the cricket helmet for long periods.
“On the subject of the pillow, it’s a medicated pillow which I use because as you know, being a wicketkeeper, there’s always a problem in the neck region. Due to constantly wearing a helmet while keeping or batting, sometimes the neck muscles become tight or rigid.
“This is why I have been referred to the medicated pillow so that I can sleep comfortably. And as you know in times of recovery, it’s very important to sleep well,” Mohammad Rizwan said in a video posted on PCB’s YouTube channel.

Rizwan said that he carries a pillow while traveling because he doesn’t want to spend even one night without a pillow.
“Sometimes, you can see me travelling with the pillow because I don’t want to take any chance. I don’t want to spend even one night without the pillow so I always prefer carrying it myself than sending it beforehand,” he said.
Mohammad Rizwan was the star performer for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021. The right-handed batter scored 281 runs in the tournament and was one of the main reasons behind his team reaching the semi-final.
Despite being in hospital ICU for two days ahead of the semi-final, Mohammad Rizwan played a sensational knock of 67 runs but failed to help his team go past the line.
Pakistan team will now tour Bangladesh for a T20 and Test series, starting November 19.
