Shikhar Dhawan on Sunday (November 14) acknowledged the people who have been part of his cricketing journey in life after receiving the prestigious Arjuna Award from the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday.

Dhawan, who hails from Delhi, said it was an honour for him to be rewarded with the Arjuna Award and thanked his coaches, doctors, BCCI, teammates, fans as well as friends and family for their support.

He also promised to continue working hard to make the country proud and congratulated all the award winners at National Sports Awards 2021.

Taking to Twitter, Dhawan penned an emotional note over a series of three tweets and shared pictures from the function including one with his father. Here are Dhawan's tweets:

Dhawan has represented India in 34 Tests, 145 ODIs and 68 T20Is while scoring 2315, 6105 and 1759 runs respectively. He has 7 Test hundreds and 17 ODI hundreds to his name. His 187 on Test debut against Australia remains the highest score for an Indian batter on debut in the longest format.

The 35-year-old southpaw has performed at his best in the ICC events, winning the Player-of-the-Tournament award in India's 2013 ICC Champions Trophy triumph. He was the leading run-getter for India in the tournament, as well as in the 2015 Cricket World Cup and 2017 edition of Champions Trophy.

Dhawan recently led India in three ODIs and three T20Is in Sri Lanka in absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and other regulars who were away in England preparing for the Tests.
