Former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar has opened up on his recent controversy on Pakistan's PTV channel. He revealed the reason behind his reaction to the cricket show and how Sir Vivian Richards had told him to sit down.

In a post-match program, after Pakistan’s win over New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2021, Akhtar and the show host, Dr. Nauman Niaz were involved in a verbal spat while discussing the impact of Lahore Qalandars’ Player Development Program (PDP) on pacers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf’s performance.

"You’re being a little rude and I don’t want to say this: but if you’re being over smart, you can go. I am saying this on-air," Niaz had told Akhtar, who was among the panelists for the cricket show, along with the likes of Richards, Azhar Mahmood, and Umar Gul.

Akhtar had resigned from his job as a cricket analyst on PTV after being told to leave the set by the host of the show. The ex-cricketer said he is resigning as a cricket analyst of the channel as he had been treated badly and insulted on air by the host Niaz in front of former cricketers.

In his latest Instagram post, Akhtar posted a clip from another TV show where he can be seen explaining the situation which led to the heated moment on air.
