Steyn upset after CSA ignores Du Plessis and Tahir in congratulatory post for IPL 2021 win

Cricket South Africa had to delete the post which only mentioned Lungi Ngidi.

Former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn was surprised by the post of South Africa Cricket (CSA) on different social media platforms. He believes the person handling the social media account of CSA "needs a talking".

CSA shared a congratulatory post for Lungi Ngidi after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the IPL 2021, but didn't mention other Proteas players, Imran Tahir and Faf du Plessis, who were also part of the winning squad. Even Du Plessis was stunned seeing the post only congratulating Ngidi for the title win.

"Congratulations @lungingidi on claiming the 2021 title with Chennai Super Kings," the post read which was deleted later.

Steyn commented on the post and wrote, "Who's running this account? Last I checked Faf isn't even retired, Imran isn't retired, both these guys have given years of service to CSA and they are not worth a mention? Disgusting."

The 38-year-old later posted a couple of tweets slamming for the post and he even advised them to repost with a mention of Du Plessis and Tahir to save themselves from the embarrassment.

"CSA opening a can of worms for themselves with their Twitter and Instagram. Whoever’s running those accounts needs a talking too," he wrote.

In another tweet, Steyn posted, "CSA now blocked the comments section. Here’s some advice. Do the right thing. Delete the post and add all the men involved, save yourself the embarrassment and ridicule."

Du Plessis played a handy knock of 86 runs off 59 deliveries in the IPL 2021 for CSK. They posted 192/3 runs in 20 overs and restricted Kolkata Knight Riders on 165/9 to win the final by 27 runs. He and Tahir are not part of South Africa's T20 World Cup squad.
