Australia cricketer Glenn Maxwell has reacted to the new rule in the Big Bash League (BBL). BBL is introducing a change in the timed-out rule for the upcoming season in an attempt to speed up the play.

Cricket Australia’s playing conditions committee is looking to reduce the time between the fall of a wicket and the next ball. They will increase a potential penalty for players that take too long.

As per ESPNcricinfo, if the batter fails to reach the pitch on time, the bowler will receive a bowling free-hit. The batter will stand aside and allow a free delivery at the stumps and if the bowler misses, the batter would be able to 'start' their innings. However, in case the ball hits the stumps, the batter will be 'out'.

Maxwell responded to a tweet reporting the new rule in BBL which used his picture leaving a delivery and getting bowled. He posted a gif of Jim Carrey which read, "Oh! Come on".

The incident took place back in December 2014 during a BBL match between Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat, Maxwell, playing for Melbourne, came down the track and completely misjudged the in-swinger by Ryan Duffield. He left the delivery and watched the ball hit his stumps.
