Indian cricket fraternity sends best wishes to India para-athletes for Tokyo Paralympics 2020

Tokyo Paralympics 2020 begins on August 24.

India is sending its biggest ever contingent for Paralympics with 54 athletes in Tokyo | Twitter After the completion of a successful Tokyo Olympics 2020, it's time for the differently-abled athletes to shine as the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 will kick off on August 24 in the capital of Japan. A total of 539 events in 22 sports will take place and the event will conclude on September 6.

India is sending its biggest ever contingent of 54 athletes for the event and will look to emulate the performances of Indian athletes in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics. After finishing the Tokyo Olympics with seven medals, the expectations will be high from the Indian contingent in the upcoming Tokyo Paralympics 2020. In 2016, India managed to win two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze medal.

Some of the medal contenders for India are Pramod Bhagat in Badminton, who is world No. 1 in the SL3 category (players with impairment in one/both legs and poor walking/running balance), shooters including 19-year-old Manish Narwal, 40-year-old Devendra Jhajharia, who is a two-time Paralympic gold medallist (2004 & 2016) in the javelin throw.

Apart from them, Rio hero Mariyappan Thangavelu, the high jumper from Tamil Nadu, is another strong contender.

As the athletes get ready to showcase their brilliance at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, the Indian cricket fraternity sent across wishes to them on social media, including Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and Yuvraj Singh amongst others.
