Indian professional golfer Aditi Ashok finished fourth in the women's individual golf event at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Aditi, who made her Olympics debut at an age of 18 in Rio, was in medal contention at the end of Round 3.
Aditi fell short of the bronze medal by a birdie but still made India proud with her performance. She had entered the Olympics in Tokyo with a world rank of 200 but the way she fought neck-to-neck with the world's best golfers is commendable.

India's cricket fraternity praised Aditi for a historic outing at the Tokyo Olympics. Her rise in the Olympics made a huge number of Indian sports fans learn and understand golf. Aditi had finished tied 41st in the 2016 Rio Games.
Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar praised her effort for making the nation take note of golf. "Wonderful effort Aditi, well done.???????? You missed a medal by a whisker but have managed to do something even bigger; make the nation pause & take note about golf ⛳????️♂️at the #Olympics! #Tokyo2020 #Golf," he tweeted.
Former India batsman VVS Laxman congratulated Aditi on a spectacular performance. "Congrats @aditigolf While you may have missed winning a medal but it was spectacular to see the way you competed over the last 4 days. You have done yourself and the country proud with your performance. Good luck for your future tournaments Raising hands #Golf #Olympics2020 #Tokyo2020," he wrote.
