AB de Villiers is regarded as one of the modern-day batting geniuses in cricket. The South African great announced his retirement from international cricket in 2018 leaving everyone shocked.
Nicknamed ‘Mr 360’ for his innovative shorts, de Villiers amassed runs across formats and toyed with the bowlers at will during his prime. In his illustrious international career, de Villiers has amassed 8765 runs in Test at an average of 50.7, 9577 runs in ODIs at an average of 54.5, and 1672 runs in T20Is with a strike rate of 135.2. He also holds the record of fastest 50, 100, and 150 in ODIs.
He has scored 47 international 100s that includes 25 in ODIs and 22 in Tests. He captained South Africa in 103 international matches and won 59 of them between 2012 and 2017. He also captained his team to the semi-finals of ICC World Cup 2015. He took over the responsibility of being South Africa’s wicketkeeper for quite some time too.

AB de Villiers recently took his fans down the nostalgia route by posting a throwback post on Instagram along with his South African teammates on Tuesday, 03 August.
He captioned the post as “More than personal milestones or success, these are the kind of moments I remember forever when I look back at my international career with Proteas. Being genuinely happy for my teammates’ success and ultimately standing together out there and fighting it out for South Africa.”
