R Ashwin, Wasim Jaffer congratulate PV Sindhu on her quarter-finals win in Olympics 2020

PV Sindhu is a win away from securing a medal in the Tokyo Olympics.

India's ace badminton player PV Sindhu has qualified for the semi-finals of women's singles badminton at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. She defeated Japan's Akane Yamaguchi by 21-13 22-20 in a 56-minute quarterfinal match.

Sindhu, who has not lost a single game in the Olympics 2020, received praise from the Indian cricketers. Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer called her a champion, while India's off-spinner R Ashwin congratulated her for the performance.

“She's a champion and she played like one. Superb Sindhu Storms into Semis! Congratulations @Pvsindhu1," wrote Jaffer. "PV Sindhu ???????????? #Olympics ????????," Ashwin's tweet read.

Tamil Nadu batsman Abhinav Mukund applauded her ability to deal with the pressure and wrote, "What a show of mental strength and fitness from #PVSindhu  Great game! Onto the semis now.#Olympics2020".

Sindhu will play her semi-final match against number two seeded Chinese Taipei shuttler Tai Tzu-Ying on July 31. She has won a silver in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
