The exciting match ended in Italy’s favor in the penalty shootout as Gianluigi Donnarumma saved two England penalties en-route to a 3-2 shootout win at the Wembley Stadium.

Luke Shaw had given England a dream start with a superb goal after two minutes but Italy, who was a lull in the first half, took command in the second half thanks to an equalizer from Leonardo Bonucci after 67 minutes.

After 90 plus minutes and extra time, the match went into a penalty shootout. It was the first final to be decided on penalties since Czechoslovakia beat West Germany in 1976.

The giant keeper saved from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka after Marcus Rashford hit a post, as Federico Bernardeschi, Leonardo Bonucci, and Domenico Berardi all scored for the Italians.

This victory will be wildly celebrated in Italy after they lost in the final in 2000 and 2012.

The 67,000 pro-England fans in Wembley were left heartbroken as England failed to bring it home in their first major final since they won the World Cup 55 years ago.

Not only the football fraternity was over the moon after Italy beat England in the final, the cricketing world was also highly elated at the victory of Giorgio Chiellini-led Italian team over Harry Kane’s England.

The cricket fraternity took to Twitter and shared their joy and congratulated Italy and consoled England after a terrific Euro 2020 final.
