This is Lionel Messi's first big international title for Argentina | TwitterArgentina team won the Copa America title for the first time in almost 30 years. Argentina led by Lionel Messi defeated Brazil in the final to lift the title for the 15th time, which they had last won in 1993.

Argentia defeated Brazil 1-0 in the final which was played at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

This was Lionel Messi’s first-ever big trophy in Argentine jersey, and the victory set social media on fire, with wishes coming for Messi from Indian fans around the country and globe. Lio Messi also won the Best Player of the tournament trophy for scoring the most goals.

Former batting legend Sachin Tendulkar wrote, "Heartiest congratulations to Argentina on winning the #CopaAmericaFINAL. It is a historic win for all the Argentinians and is an icing on the cake for Messi who has had such a stellar career. Continue inspiring."

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni paid tribute to Messi and revealed that the footballer played the final with an injury. 

"If you knew the way that he played in Copa America you’d love him even more. You can never do without a player like him, even when he is not fully fit like in this game and the previous one. In the end he did not throw in the towel and he succeeded. We are talking about the best footballer of all time and everyone knew how important it was for him to win a title with the national team," Scaloni told reporters.

Also congratulating Messi and Argentina was Google CEO Sundar Pichai, who tweeted, “Messi has given so much joy over the years and arguably the best ever, so well deserved. Congrats Argentina well played Brasil. Jogo Bonito. #CopaAmerica.”
