The only captain in the cricket world to win all the three ICC events in limited-overs cricket- the T20 World Cup, the Champions Trophy, and the World Cup, MS Dhoni is celebrating his 40th birthday today on July 7.
Dhoni, who was born in Jharkhand on this day in 1981, started his international cricket career with a duck against Bangladesh in an ODI in 2004. He has scored over 4,800 runs in 90 Tests and over 10,700 runs in 350 ODIs.
He has a total of 16 centuries to his name in his international career and averages over 50 in ODI cricket. Add over 1,600 runs in 98 T20I matches and you have the perfect cricketer any team wants.
Behind the stumps, Dhoni made 294 dismissals in Tests, 444 dismissals in ODIs, and 91 dismissals in T20Is. He is the only wicketkeeper with over 100 stumpings in ODI cricket.
He called time on his illustrious career on August 15, 2020, shocking many of his fans and peers. He continues to regale the audience with his captaincy, batting, and keeping skills in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he plays for Chennai Super Kings, who have won the tournament thrice under his leadership in 2010,2011 and 2018.
