From demolishing the Aussies with his stellar showing in the 2001 Test series to being part of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup triumphs, Harbhajan Singh is widely regarded as one of India’s greatest spinners.
A colourful character on and off the field, Harbhajan made his Test debut in 1998 against Australia and ODI debut the same year against New Zealand.
However, he announced his real arrival in the international arena through the 2001 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, picking up 32 wickets in 3 Tests. During the iconic Kolkata Test, the Turbanator became the first Indian to claim a Test hat-trick.
He may not be in the selection reckoning anymore, but Harbhajan has given some memorable performances for India over the years. In 103 Tests, he has picked up 417 wickets, while in 236 ODIs, he has bagged 269 scalps. In 28 T20Is, the off-spinner has taken 25 wickets.
As he celebrates his 41st birthday on July 3, Indian cricket fraternity took to Twitter and extended their best wishes for Harbhajan Singh.
