Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has lambasted his ex-teammate Mohammad Yousuf in an old video which has emerged on social media.

Targetting Yousuf, Afridi said it is a good thing for a Muslim to have beard and wear cap but it is necessary to have good intentions.

In the clip, Afridi can also be heard saying, “Yusuf is no longer a cricketer… but belongs to Tablighi Jamaat.”

The video, which has been doing rounds on social media, was from an interview to Ary News and in which Afridi said that Yusuf is a better cricketer than him and hoped he will be a better Muslim than him too.

“But there is one thing, he is no longer a cricketer. Now he is related to a Tablighi Jamaat. If he doesn’t care about his own respect, then he should at least think about the respect of Jamaat,” he added.

Afridi also blasted Mohammad Yousuf for playing Indian Cricket League (ICL) back in 2007.

“These are the same people who decided to leave the Pakistan team and play in ICL (Indian Cricket League). I also got an offer of Rs 8 crore but I refused,” he said.

In the ICL, Yousuf represented Lahore Badshahs. It was a T20 league that was held some months before the Indian Premier League came into existence.

Widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s finest batsman, Mohammad Yousuf played 90 Tests and 288 ODIs for his country, scoring 7530 runs and 9720 runs respectively. He has 39 centuries (24 in Tests, 15 in ODIs) to his name in international cricket.
