Former India skipper Mohammed Azharuddin shared a picture of him riding an old scooter that was gifted by someone as an acknowledgment of his talent. Azharuddin, who played 99 Test matches for India, was one of the most pleasing batsmen to watch.

The scooter looked in a well-maintained condition and Azharuddin recalled how he used to ride it to reach the practice stadium in the wee hours. His name, Azar, is painted on the headlight of the green-painted scooter.

“Fond memories of my early career days when I got this scooter as an acknowledgment of my talent. It was a great luxury as compared to walking or on some lucky days cycling for miles to reach the practice stadium in the wee hours,” he tweeted.

Azharuddin scored 6125 Test runs at an average of 45. He also played 334 ODIs, scoring 9378 runs at 36.92 in a 15-year international career.

In December 2000, Azharuddin was handed a life ban by the BCCI for his involvement in match-fixing. But after a long legal battle, the Andhra Pradesh High Court revoked the ban in 2012.
