New Zealand’s left-handed opener Devon Conway hit an excellent century on his Test debut as the Black Caps clashed against England in the first Test of the two-match series, being played the Mecca of cricket, the Lord’s ground in London.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to bat first. While New Zealand gave a Test cap to Devon Conway, England handed Test debuts to Ollie Robinson and James Bracey.
Olli Robinson broke through first removing Tom Latham for 23 after the openers had added 58 runs for the first wicket. Then James Anderson accounted for Kiwi captain Kane Williamson for 13 runs and then Robinson dismissed the other big fish, Ross Taylor for 14 runs.

On the other hand, Conway carried on with confidence and reached his 50 in 91 balls with 6 fours to his name. He got the company of Henry Nicholls with New Zealand at 114/3 and continued his merry way against England bowlers.
Conway, who had made his New Zealand debut in November 2020, after moving from South Africa, reached his maiden Test ton in just 163 balls with 11 boundaries to his name.
This brought joy amongst the cricket fraternity who were genuinely elated at Conway’s success and tweeted their wishes on the social media site.
