Former India captain MS Dhoni and current captain Virat Kohli share a very good camaraderie. Kohli has always been vocal about his rapport with Dhoni and the strong relationship they share on and off the field.

On Saturday (May 29), Kohli was once again asked about his bond with Dhoni during a Question & Answer (Q&A) session with fans on Instagram. "Two words that define your bond with captain cool?", asked the fan.

Kohli responded and wrote, "Trust, respect". Not only the India skipper mentioned those words it also shows in his action. When Dhoni was part of the team before retirement, Kohli treated him with respect and he has the same respect off the field too.

The trust was always there between the two, even though they switched roles. It could be seen the way Kohli was all ears to Dhoni whenever the latter came up with a suggestion for him and he did follow it.

Back in 2019, Kohli had said Dhoni will always be his captain and their relationship is very strong. “MS Dhoni is the man who gave me the opportunity to open the innings first time in my career, I can’t explain the respect I have for him in words. For me, he will always be ‘My Captain’ because I started my career under him. There has never been a moment that I want to get up there, or I don’t want anyone to give their advice.

"For me, If I trust someone, believe in someone I would do anything for them. From that point of view, there is trust, there is no explanation required between Mahi and me, as we both know that our priority is Indian cricket and we would do anything for the team. Honesty and intent is the main reason why Mahi and my relationship is so strong”, he told Star Sports.
