Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer has reacted to Australia opener Marcus Harris' comment on Cheteshwar Pujara's heroic innings at the Gabba earlier this year. Pujara had taken multiple blows on his body to score 56 runs off 211 deliveries on the last day of the decisive Test match.

Harris lauded the knock by the Indian batter and said Pujara batted "like an Australian". "I think Rishabh played the best innings that day, but for Pujara to be copping an absolute barrage from everyone, it felt like he batted like an Australian, taking everything on the chest and getting on with it. The rest of the team just batted around him," he said on ‘Cricket Life Stories YouTube channel.

Jaffer seems to have not liked the "Australian" reference by Harris while praising Pujara. He reacted to the comment and said "wonder why the Australians didn't bat like Australians" on Twitter

India had defeated Australia at the Gabba to seal the series 2-1. Pant had scored unbeaten 89 runs as India chased down 327 runs on the last day. Harris also praised Pant's match-winning innings.

“Rishabh Pant’s innings was unbelievable. Everyone says he has magic in him, and he has shown that a few times now. It was disappointing to lose the series but sometimes in cricket you just have to tip your hat and say they were too good for us," Harris said.
