"Hello white ball, where are you these days?", R Ashwin reacts to Wasim Akram's reverse swinging deliveries

Two new white balls are used in ODI cricket these days which forbids reverse swing.

India spinner R Ashwin was awe-struck by former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram's bowling as he commented on a video of him bowling with the old ball in an ODI match against New Zealand.

Akram, who is called 'The Sultan of Swing', was reverse swinging the ball in the 44th over the match. Ashwin pointed out that the white ball doesn't reverse swing like that now.

"Hello white ball!! Where are you these days?? That’s the 44th over and reverse swing at it’s best from the king @wasimakramlive," wrote Ashwin.

Notably, two new balls are used in limited-overs cricket now which makes it tough for the bowlers to reverse swing it. The rule of using two new balls from either end in alternate overs of ODI cricket was introduced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in late 2011.

Back in 2018, Sachin Tendulkar and Waqar Younis, another great fast bowler, had talked about the downside of using two new balls from both ends in ODI cricket.
