Sunrisers Hyderabad donate hefty sum of INR 30 crores to aid India’s COVID-19 fight

The second wave of COVID-19 has caused an unprecedented health crisis in India.

Sunrisers Hyderabad | BCCI/IPLIPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday (May 10) extended support to the country’s fight against the second COVID-19 wave, donating a hefty sum of INR 30 crores to help the needy amid the severe crisis.

India is reporting over 4 lakh COVID-19 cases and more than 4000 deaths for the last few days and the health infrastructure is struggling to cope with the crisis, failing to provide oxygen and crucial medicines to the infected patients.

Taking to Twitter, SRH wrote: “Sun TV (SunRisers Hyderabad) is donating Rs.30 crores to provide relief to those affected by the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The Hyderabad-based franchise also attached a statement that reads, “Sun TV network is donating a sum of Rs.30 crores to provide relief to those affected by the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

“This will be spent on several initiatives currently under way at various states of India including the following:

“1. Donations to the various programmes initiated by Government of India and state governments”

“2. Partnering with NGOs that are providing oxygen cylinders, medicines etc”

“In addition, the company will leverage its resources including all its media assets to spread greater awareness among millions of our TV viewing audiences across India and rest of the world.”

Earlier, IPL franchises Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) had also contributed 7.5 crore and 1.5 crore respectively for the noble cause while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) arranged the supply of 450 oxygen concentrators for the affected patients in Tamil Nadu.

Notably, the 2021 edition of Indian Premier League was postponed indefinitely on Tuesday (May 4) after the deadly virus breached the bio-bubble and infected a number of players and support staff members.
